George Mihalka is a master storyteller who has parlayed a celebrated directing career into work as a Showrunner, Executive Producer and Production Executive.

For the last three years, George has been working as the Co-Creator and Executive Producer on Hunyadi: The Rise of the Raven, a 10-hour medieval period drama shooting in Hungary for Canadian-Hungarian producer Robert Lantos (Serendipity Point Films), Beta Film Gmbh (Germany), and The Hungarian Film Institute (NFI).

Prior to that, his expertise helped to shape Raven Banner’s multi-award-winning feature Lifechanger; as well as A Perfect Plan, Don’t Click and The Curse of Audrey Earnshaw for Vortex Media.

George’s caustic gangster satire, 24 Hour Rental, debuted to rave reviews in North America where it aired on Super Channel (Canada) and Hulu (USA).  He was the Showrunner, Executive Producer and director of all thirteen episodes for Reel One Entertainment.

For CBC/Radio Canada, George directed OMERTA: The Last Man of Honour (13 episodes); the six-hour Orwellian thriller Haute Surveillance; and the award-winning French-language drama Scoop (19 episodes) on which he was also the Showrunner.

George also directed multiple episodes of the award-winning dramas Da Vinci’s Inquest (CBC) and Jozi-H (CBC), as well as Lost Girl (Showcase), Transporter (HBO/M6/RTL), The Firm (NBC), King (Global), and The Street (MCA/Universal). His sci-fi/action television work can be seen in Charlie Jade (CHUM/Sci-Fi) and Galidor (Fox/Disney). His comedy series credits include Undressed (MTV) and Wish You Were Here (CBS).

His work in television movies includes the Gemini Award-winning Dr. Lucille: The Lucille Teasdale Story (CTV), starring Louis Gossett Jr. The much-fêted Sticks and Stones (CTV) won the Shaw Rocket Prize for Best Canadian Youth and Family Film; the Best Foreign Feature Drama at the Los Angeles International Family Film Festival; and earned Gemini and CFTPA’s Indie Award nominations for Best Direction and Best FilmRace to Mars, a four-hour mini-series, had the highest ratings for a specialty channel in both Canada (Discovery) and France (ARTE).

On the feature motion picture side, George’s French-language comedies La Florida (winner of Canada’s Golden Screen Award), L’homme Ideal, and Les Boys IV, were all top box office successes in Canada. Other features include the cult horror classic My Bloody Valentine; Bullet to Beijing, starring Michael Caine and Michael Gambon; and Eternal Evil, which won the prestigious Prix de Public Award at the Avoriaz Fantastic Film Fest in France.
